Kindness for All

Day 111: Kindness for All

“Kindness is not an act. It is a lifestyle.” – Anthony Douglas William

After finding and reading the above quote, I may need to change the title of my blog! I love this! Kindness as a lifestyle! That is certainly what I am attempting and hoping to achieve.

Everyone deserve human kindness, especially those that are down. Everyday for the last two weeks, I walk by the same homeless person in the morning on my way to work. At first, I avoided his eyes, his out reached hand, and his asking for money. By the third day, I began making eye contact and wishing him a good morning. On the fifth day, he met my eyes and wished me good morning in return. It did not come with a smile or any enthusiasm, but it was a start!

I missed him this morning as he was not in his usual spot. I’m hoping he will be back tomorrow so that I may offer him an apple or some chocolate. I’m also hopeful that I will soon get a smile in return. Either way, my interaction with this man, makes be feel joy. I have no idea if he remembers me from day to day, but I hope in the moment of our daily exchange, that I do add a little sunshine to his day. And who knows what may come of this.

With Kindness,

Jennifer Palazzo

  1. I think he might remember you. Very few people will make eye contact with and actually speak to the homeless… in some way or another, I’m sure you’ve made an impression. I hope he’s there tomorrow! 🙂
