Why I started 4 Acts of Kindness:
The inspiration for this site was first conceived during preparation for one of my yoga classes. I had the idea of asking my students to think about what it meant to be kind and how to show kindness, but I also wanted them to really feel and create kindness. As I reflected on the subject of kindness and what it meant, I had a moment of inspiration and during that moment, I realized that I had been trying so hard to create kindness in my life without understanding that true kindness had to first come from within. What does that mean? It means that I had to learn to be kind to myself before I could truly be kind to others. Yes, it is possible to do acts of kindness for others, but to live a life full of kindness meant that I had to learn to be kind, loving, tender, complimentary, and authentic to myself first. As I have been discovering this key factor, the site has in part become my journey to find, create and live one Act of Kindness at a time. It is also a place that I hope to inspire others to find their way to Kindness. I hope you will join me in practicing the 4 Acts of Kindness daily.
My hope is that by challenging myself and others to 4 Acts of Kindness daily, that I will change, the people around me will change and maybe, just maybe, I can spread more kindness in the world. Follow me on this journey and let’s see what we can do!
