Kindly Finding the Beauty

Day 137: Kindly Finding the Beauty

“A beautiful life begins with a beautiful mind.” – Unknown

“Life is beautiful if you flow with its natural beauty. Resistance makes it ugly.” – Terri Guillemets

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” – Confucius

There are times in life that we find ourselves in the midst of perceived ugliness or, in other words, in a situation that we would rather not be. These difficult, upsetting and challenging situations are the very things that make us stronger, force us to grow, and expand our hearts. Our inclination in any unpleasant situation is to resist and protect ourselves. It is only later, looking back that we can see the gifts that were there waiting to be found and revealed. The diamond in the rough, the buried treasure and the hidden gems are all sayings that come to mind. If we are patient and have faith, allow ourselves to flow with life, and use a positive outlook to look for the treasures, the beauty of life will be revealed.

With Kindness,

Beautiful Kindness

Day 95: Beautiful Kindness

“The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express.” – Francis Bacon

Is it possible to find beauty in everything we do? Can we find the beauty in all people, all beings, all things and all situations? Absolutely! However, we must first find the beauty within. We need to fall in love with ourselves, approve of every part of ourselves; perceived flaws, mistakes, regrets and every fiber of our being and history. In order to do this, we have to change the way we see ourselves and be full of never-ending forgiveness. We are human, imperfect, but loving, kind, incredible and magnificent. We are beauty. We are beautiful and imperfectly perfect beings.

Today, try to find the beauty inside of you. Try to view yourself as a small baby that has just been born. If you are a parent, this visualization will be easy. Remember how every part of your baby is perfection: the skin, the eyes, the toes and fingers. Try to think of yourself as this perfect child, happy, warm, cared for and loved. Carry yourself out into the world knowing that you are taken care of, loved, and cherished. Believe and know that there is and endless supply of love, kindness, and beauty from within. If you can feel this remember it, and practice it, then beauty will be found everywhere and with every person.

Be kind, find the beauty, and love openly and freely.

We Are Kindness

Day 50: We Are Kindness

“You are loved. You are wonderfully made. You are beautiful. You have purpose. You are a masterpiece. God has a great plan for you.” – Unknown

Do you feel loved? Do you believe that you are wonderfully and perfectly made the way that you are in this very moment? Do you believe that you are beautiful inside and out, just as you are? Do you believe that you have a purpose in this world and on this planet? Do you believe that you are a masterpiece, made perfectly and with great care? Do you believe that there is a plan for you, greater than you may currently think or believe?

Happy New Year! The above quote is my daily mantra for 2016. A friend sent it to me one day when I was feeling down and discouraged. Since that day, I have read it everyday and it has become a sort of daily mantra, especially when I feel overwhelmed, stressed or discouraged in any way. I have also printed it out and framed it for each of my two children to read when they need it.

Kindness to Self:

To believe that you are loved, wonderfully and perfectly made, that you are a beautiful masterpiece and that you have great purpose and a plan made just for you is the ultimate form of kindness. It is true self-love.

Kindness to Others:

To be able to see and give all of those same things to your children, family, loved ones and friends is pure loving kindness.

Kindness to Strangers:

To believe that everyone is loved, wonderfully made, beautiful, has great purpose, and is a masterpiece; is living and promoting kindness to all.

Kindness to Our Planet:

To treat the planet as if you love it, as if you know it is wonderfully and perfectly made, that it is beautiful, has great purpose, is a masterpiece made for all of humankind is to live with a great understanding of responsibility and care.

Let’s find, create and live everyday with the belief that we are in fact loved, that we are wonderfully made, that we are beautiful, that we are a masterpiece, that we all have great purpose and a specifically awesome plan. Let’s be Kindness!

Kindness by Loving Your Body

Day 30: Kindness by Loving Your Body

“Embrace and love your body, it is the most amazing thing you will ever own.” -Unknown

Choose to love yourself from the inside out and from the outside in. Today and everyday, choose to love the body that you have, it was created just for you and you are beautiful just the way you are.

I recently read on my friends website, Fabulous to Be Female, that over 90% of women have a negative view of their bodies. That is an alarming statistic, but unfortunately, not surprising. Most of my friends are in a never ending cycle of dieting, exercise and complaining about their bodies. I used to be one of the 90%. It wasn’t until I learned to fall in love with myself from the inside out and really feed my soul with what it desired that I could leave behind the negative self image that I had created throughout my life.

This is no longer just a female problem. Boys and men are increasingly feeling the pressure to look a certain way. I have even overheard my 10 year old boy and his friends discussing six packs! So how can we teach our children to love their bodies if a huge percentage of us are dissatisfied with how we look? It must start with each of us. We must figure out how to fall in love and embrace our bodies from the inside out.

  1. Kindness to Self:

Why is it so easy to look at our children, our best friend, our spouse and tell them how beautiful they look, but when we look in the mirror we cannot say it to ourselves? Have a friend or family member write a paragraph describing your inner and outer beauty. Take that paragraph and read it everyday while looking in the mirror until you believe the words! It worked for me. Maybe even frame it and have it handy, especially on those difficult days when you are feeling down.

“People often say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder.” -Salma Hayak

  2. Kindness to Others:

How ever you can, learn to embrace and love your body and share that love with the people around you, especially the children, for they are always watching and listening.

“As a child, I never heard one woman say to me ‘I love my body.’ Not my mother, my elder sister, my best friend. No one woman has ever said, ‘I am so proud of my body.’ So, I make sure to say it to Mia, because a positive physical outlook has to start at an early age.” – Kate Winslet

  3. Kindness to Strangers:

Finding beauty where ever and whomever we look at can be liberating and a great way to feed the soul. You can make a game of it..try finding one beautiful quality in every person you meet, even the ones that may be offensive to you.

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.” – Mother Teresa

  4. Kindness to Our Planet:

The more we can live in and embrace our inner beauty, the more loving kindness we will feel and be able to spread to those around us and it will naturally spread to the places we live.
